Now if only people around the world would apply this same standard to lying and thievish politicians, I really think the world would be a much better place to live!

this guy released a book in 2001. because of its success, he has decided to proceed with a 'denunciation' lawsuit.
sounds handy.
wonder if a similar action could be taken against the wts.... .

its interesting that in the book of genesis we are introduced to cain as a farmer, a cultivator of the land.
when he made offerings to jehovah he offered to him the best fruits of his labor.
we are also introduced to his brother abel who was not a cultivator of the land but a herder of sheep.
Where can I find the account of this true story in case I were to repeat it or share it with someone?

if you look at the privacy policy at http://www.watchtower.org/.
jehovah's witnesses and watchtower are committed to protecting your privacy.
please read on for more details about our privacy policy.. what information do we collect?
BicMac, thanks. I'm of the scriptural suggestion that forums of this nature follow the words of Paul, ".....fitly united in the same mind and in the same line of thought." 1 Cor. 1:10 Not perfectly, however, it will have to do for now.
Glad to know you.

i was looking forward to the future, before it was drasticly cut short by my realisation that i will probably die in about 50 years.. but what kind of advances will we see in that time and on into the future.. just whatching a film from 5 or 10 years ago it seams like a different world.. i was watching a film last night and looking at the size of the mobile phones ,they looked like telephone boxes, and of course no internet, computers in cars to tell where you are or dvd players etc.. go back a little further and we have no videos ,no computers at all.. back a hundred years or so and we loose cars, plane , tv and most things we take for granted.. so what does the future hold?.
i find it quite exciting to think of what advances could be made.. cures for diseases , improvments to the human body?more information on the universe, improved transport lots of things.. going massivly into the future how about this, ressurection of dead people?
(even people who lived thousands of years before like us).
ballistic, could it be the 'wine?'

when the new song book "sing praises to jehovah" was introduced from the great publishing company in 1984, it was clearly and frankly admitted (suprisingly) that some of the old songs had to be dropped due to the fact they were copied from other religions and some even infringed copyright in this regard.
however, from an early age "we thank you jehovah" had always reminded me of "god save the queen" and this song was not dropped and continues to be regularly used down to this day.. i realise in later life that the two songs are indeed similar in a musical sense.
you can almost play one song on top of the other in places and the starting chord structure is identical.. also, the two songs both seem to have a certain feeling of reverence which i am not sure is conjured up by the timing and the harmony alone or by the meaning the songs have in terms of their lyrics and use.. it turns out the british tune has been used many times over by different people and even by other countries, as european visitors to britain in the eighteenth century noticed the advantage of a country possessing such a recognised musical symbol - including germany, russia, switzerland and america (where use of the tune continued after independence).
Ah, the looney 'tunes.' In Canada a looney is a dollar and it talks!

Gopher, thanks for your comments. Quote # 2 is far out, 'surprised' & 'innacurate?' Quote # 3, since when?
I've prepared my mom and daughter who are witnesses for the up and coming soap opera.

And yet with all these so-called changes, the essentials/necessities will always remain the same. We will continue to eat, drink, sleep and fart.

just a quick note...well it didn't end up very quick:).
i posted about my internal struggle with belief in god a few days ago.. unfortunately, with my job and family i am often so busy i can't get to this board for days at a time.. i just saw that there were many responses to my posting.. i want to say thanks to those who offered encouragement and some very good points to think about.. at this time i remain an agnostic with atheistic days.
but if i do settle on a belief in god i can only believe in a simple form of worship, i know i will not be able to accept any "holy" book or traditional form of religion.
Dobby, I have believed in a Creator since childhood. Nobody had to tell or show me and I didn't have to be a JW either to convince me. I will say, it is a great feeling.
We all have choices.

OK, feel free to comment. What verbal gymnastics will the org. use to offset the pedohilia story that will air on Dateline? This story will be ripe because the Catholic Church will have already set the stage for a showdown at the OK Corral,(public opinion.)

if you are an elder and your uncle is a pedophile who molests your mother and your sister, and a lot of other little girls in the surrounding congregations, and even your own cousins'children who happen to be the pedophile's grandchildren, and you and your father, also an elder, the pedophiles' brother-in-law, and you all are "one big happy family" in the same congregation together, the watchtower society will make you the po if you protect uncle pedophile and discredit the victims.
sound confusing?
well, in other words, the protecting family elder of the pedophile is being "rewarded" for covering for his pedophile uncle, and discrediting his family who spoke out.
That sounds like a small town named Prescott Ontario. This town (had) just about every Tom, Dick and Harry involved in such a situation. And I mean town officials and clergy! It makes you wonder how many moral people are left.
